happy thanksgiving to all you turkeys, from the comment section's resident ham...

this thanksgiving may mark for all of us something of a bookend on an extended period of plenty that seems to be coming to a fast close. i believe people like dave ramsey have been raised up 'for such a time as this' to help us all return to a more prudent financial focus. our government tends to reflect the general populace with its head-in-the-sand approach to solve the problems on the horizon. printing more money will only take us so far - pretty soon, the ink and paper may be worth more themselves than the 'full faith and credit' of the government supposedly backing them.

all isn't gloom and doom, i suppose: God remains in charge and will discipline those He loves. whether what's going to happen is the direct hand of God or the natural consequences of too-much gotten too-easily for too-long - perhaps the hand of God and the natural consequences are one and the same - the one thing we know is that we will emerge on the other side, hopefully wiser and a little more humble.

so have a nice holiday. i'll put to good use today the fork i normally use to poke all of you in the eye during the rest of the year... :)
