Why has social justice become such a hot topic in the church?

I think Dr. Joel Hunter offered an excellent demonstration of the underlining importance that 'Righteousnesses done Civil' is held to a dramtic and significant account before God. This is exactly why God brought forth His Son Jesus like Dr. Hunter says...Jesus came for those mistreated and/or left out. God calls for more than just moral purity~He's asked for organizations to stive for mental/emotional health establishing right relationships with one another--engaging in conflicts or not. As it is written of in Psalm 106:3 "Blessed are those who maintain Justice, who constantly do what is right"...and so forth. We are none-the-less called to a higher standard ,thus meaning doing much more than just talking about it. Also, as it IS written in Ephesians 2:9 "it is not by works, so that no one can boast"...and truly what is needed to be seen is the demonstration so well put that Dr. Hunter explained in remembering that JUSTICE IS related to 'love and grace' this suggests we need to do much more about it~and stand firm to its accordances for Gods favor~asked from Him, God, in the first place. Thanks for sharing this....i do appreciate this extremely much, and it re-affirms my assessments in knowing exactly what is right from wrong. My core convictions as well...thanks for this~Rahab

"Jesus came for those mistreated and/or left out."

That is not true. Nor is it Biblically supportable.

"#1 reason for war in Darfur is climate change."
He believes that climate change stuff?

"Not a religious or ethnic war..."
What is this assessment based on?

"We see it every night on TV..."
That makes it true? We're supposed to believe the TV?

Tell me about poverty when you are asking for:
*$41.7 million for your current building project?
*$11 million annual church operations
*$2 million distributed tithes
What percentage goes beyond the givers?
What percentage is pooling for the givers?

I wonder how much goes to Darfur from his church?
Are we supposed to respect this guy on social justice?
Is he really a catalyst thinker?
