Ur Video: Driscoll on Porn
When does involvement with porn disqualify you from ministry?
James MacDonald asks Mark Driscoll for a definitive answer on porn. When does viewing it disqualify a person from leadership--once a year, once a quarter, once a month, once a week? Driscoll avoids giving a one-size-fits-all answer. What do you think?

*IF* a pastor is found to be engaged in "addiction" of any form, then two or three brothers/sisters or combo thereof should approach him, correct him, and seek healing for him bringing him back to the fold.
If the pastor responds, and repents, then a pastor has been restored, but should he reject/resist/ignore the call for repentance...then he should be let go to find his own way, and to leave him to the mercies of G-d.
And not a single "!" point to be found.

What's not to take seriously here? Driscoll can go way overboard sometimes, but I think here he's on point.

Driscoll is probably right here....but he is also OBSESSED with talking about sex. We shouldnt feed his obsession.

Driscoll is right not to provide a "one-size-fits-all" answer. He understands that the problem is much more complex, that repentance and restoration are different in each case, and that the way to help a person overcome a pornography addiction will vary from instance to instance. He also rightly attempts to drive the conversation down to lust, to root issues, and offer a nuanced understanding of sin that requires listening, careful pastoral guidance, prayer, biblical reflection, accountability, and discipline.

Wow. Driscoll avoids a one-size-fits-all answer. Now, if only he'd do that regarding women in leadership or "wives who let themselves go" or ...
Maybe he's growing up!
Or maybe this is because he's addressing a serious topic like porn, and not something simple, like women.

Hi,
Are we asked how many times the pastor got "busted," or how many times the pastor freely admits to struggling? I think there's a difference.
A question I think about is whether we as the church should have pastors/leaders who fail and not to dismiss them immediately when they do fail. I think we should! The success of a church does not depend on the pastor! Why is it that pastors and congregations can be extremely lenient and forgiving to wayward members but not to the pastor? I personally think the emphasis and "mystique" surrounding pastors needs to be demythologized. Unfortunately we live in a Christianity that has become completely dependent on the pastor to be fed by Christ.
