Ur Video: Pastor Tased by Worship Leader

This takes "worship wars" to a new level.

New Welcome Baptist Church in Grand Bay, Alabama, was the scene of a violent church conflict on August 7. Details are still coming out, but it seems to involved the pastor, worship leader, a few deacons, knives, and at least one taser gun. Check out the video report:

I'm not sure why this was posted on Out of Ur. Was it meant to be funny? It isn't. Worship wars?! It has the aroma of rubber necking at the sight of an accident. It's a matter of concern to our brothers and sisters there at that church. The church leader and others involved should be prayed for, disciplined, counseled and comforted by their fathers and brothers (and mothers and sisters) in the faith, locally. But the matter should be left there, not broadcast across the country, particularly by a widely read Christian blog such as yours. We each have enough sins at our own door to repent of.

Read's like any other crime that we hear about in the world...business fires person, said person gets irate, stabs local, gets tased/shot/beat-downed...yep, just another day in the life of the world.

I probably shouldn't say this, but...

Bwahahaha!

It's the tasing that makes it funny :)

Rubber-necking? Really? Whatever. I guess the gospel account of Peter cutting off some guy's ear in Gethsemane should have been left out of Scripture too. Right? Or maybe Paul should have kept his mouth shut about the fallout with Peter over the Galatian believers. Or maybe God should just shutup about your sin and mine. Does that help?

The problem here is these people never ever dealt with their anymosities. What knucklehead carries a TASER to church and then what kind of spineless person knifes a woman? In my opinion, this is a civil matter (because the church was obviously negligent) and should be handled by the authorities and if any church doesn't want negative publicity they shouldn't be doing anything like this.

These people acted stupidly. They deserve what they got; bad press and all. The whole situation was avoidable. This is exactly what happens when you sweep your problems under the rug all for appearances, control and of course, love. These people need a spanking by their congregation and then they can talk about making things right and repairing the damage. Also, I think a few people need to be fired.

What's sad is that a lot of people I know will see that this happened in a Baptist church and assume this is the logical next step for what they see as a stream of Christianity that seems to embrace contentiousness as a distinctive value.

As a person who serves in a historically baptist/baptistic faith community, I can already anticipate the conversations I'm going to have with my friends/neighbors who are far from God once they see this and/or hear about this.

Love alone is credible-Balthasar

Interesting story, it will be nice when church leaders can get their differences out of the way. I hope peoples faith is not shaken.

Wow, it's a felony to possess a taser!

Just when you thought church was crAzy... someone one-ups the last guy.

I don't really know what to say to this story. At any level, it's really sad.
