Ur Video: The King Jesus Gospel
Is the church proclaiming the same Gospel preached by Jesus and the Apostles?
It seems everyone has an answer for the exodus of young people from the church. We're too homophobic, too irrelevant, too age-segmented, too boring, or too consumerist. But Scot McKnight's explanation goes far deeper. He thinks we have fundamentally misunderstood the gospel. His new book, The King Jesus Gospel, seeks to explain where we went off course, and then define the gospel that Jesus proclaimed. Here's a video preview of his book:

I was no longer a youth when I left my Evangelical church to become an Orthodox Christian, but he has hit the nail on the head I believe in his diagnosis here. It was certainly true for me. I will be interested in reading what he has to say in his book and how Evangelicals respond or react.

He should have Rob Bell do the video for him. He'll get great publicity. :)
I will definitely be reading this one.

This sounds a lot like Dallas Willard's thoughts. I know McKnight has been doing some Renovare conferences with Willard and others. The gospel is a gospel of life. How would Jesus live his life if he were me? Wonderful! So excited for this book. Thank you for previewing it.

The passage which wrestled me to the floor this past week is Romans 15:7 - "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you...." That's in Romans!!!
As far as the Apostle Paul was concerned (as is the Holy Spirit still), Christ is not only our all sufficient Savior, who justifies us freely by His grace, He is also the template for our life style, especially for how we treat one another. This Gospel is big enough to challenge the most demanding young person.
