Ur Video: Ravi Zacharias-What Is The Gospel?
The good news solves our problem of alienation from God.
It's one of the most hotly debated questions in the church today: What is the Gospel? We're starting a new series of videos from Christian leaders to hear how they answer that question. The diversity of answers you will hear is remarkable. Does that speak to the gospel having many facets, or to the confusion that exists in the church about the gospel itself? We begin with the evangelist/apologist Ravi Zacharias.

That's fine, and all sounds like good news, but it is the gospel. The gospel has to be more about Jesus. I think it has to do with his kingdom. Certainly, fulfillment should be a result of the gospel, but the gospel itself is more about reconciliation.

I think Ravi Z. did a terrific job, except for one thing.
He used the word "offer" many times. The gospel is not offered...it is (or should be) announced, proclaimed, handed over.
All of this, the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation, is announced, proclaimed to the sinner; He has done this...for you! It is handed over, freely given. It's not an offer to be considered and then hopefully we will make the right decision.
The gospel is DONE to us. And then the Spirit will do with that Word in the life of the hearer, what He will do.

The harvest is great and the labourers are few; the gospel needs to be preached. The Apostle Paul has rightly summed up the work of an evangelist in 1 Corinthians 3:6 "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase."
As Christians we need to continue to do the planting and watering; the result of increase comes from God.

Peter preached: "Jesus came into Galilee, announcing God’s great news, and saying, 'The time is completed, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Turn to God and trust this great news.'"
God's great news is that there is His Kingdom. You want to have real purpose and value? You're tired of being wasted? Pledge allegiance to the King and serve Him as a good citizen of His Kingdom. Your value will be eternal.
If we try to make the good news first about what's in it for us, then it's not primarily about Him.

The first part of what he said was spot on; if only it had led him to better conclusions than simply rehashing the same hack job that led to our ennui in the first place.
As was stated above, a kingdom needs a king. If it'snot Christ, my Self will be happy to fill the gap.
